Media from newspapers, radio and television stations, and online publications across the state were honored by their local school districts. Criteria for the district selection included the media representative’s efforts to get to know the superintendent, the community, and the district’s mission and goals; report school news in a fair, accurate, and balanced manner; give a high profile to positive news about schools.
“Thrall ISD appreciates the support by Taylor Press in the most significant time when public schools are having a huge task to fight for their community schools as legislatures and state officials try to suppress the work public educators and communities do for their children. These young people are the future leaders”, states superintendent Tommy Hooker. Richard and his team at Taylor Press are a true testament to the public schools in our area. Hooker states “Districts like Taylor, Hutto, Granger, and Coupland are covered thoroughly just as Thrall ISD has been over the past year and this is greatly appreciated!”.
Richard Stone was recognized at the TISD Board of Trustees meeting on Aug. 22.
“Districts across Texas appreciate these reporters for their balanced and accurate approach to sharing both the challenges facing our schools and the successes achieved by local teachers, students, and school boards. Their work aids local communities in focusing on the goal of providing the best public schools we can for every child,” said Teresa Flores, TASB president.
