Safety is Our Priority

We would like to remind parents to have conversations with their children about the seriousness of making threats of violence whether it be verbal, written, or on social media platforms. Also, if you see or hear something, please report your concern to someone you trust. Thrall ISD utilizes a multi-phase approach to monitor threats and to ensure safety. This includes training of staff and students, controlling entry and access, and working in partnership with law enforcement.

Other safety concerns we will continue to monitor and improve include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Shelter-in-place for various reasons including bad weather conditions
  • Safety for car drop-off and pick-up; bus loading and unloading; crosswalk and vehicle travel for students
  • Threats to self or others; students or adults
  • Fire and Chemical Safety drills when routing people out of building; building evacuations
  • Tornado plan in place; we had a tornado hit 1-year ago this week
  • Train derailments

In the wake of recent events, we understand that school safety and violence prevention is at the forefront of the public. We strive to educate our students in a safe and peaceful environment.

Thank you,

Tommy Hooker

Superintendent of Schools
